Young Farmers Day - Friday, January 30, 2026
|
Attention all Schools and Students! You and your students are warmly invited to join us at the Islands Agriculture Show on Friday, January 30, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.—free of charge! As the Island’s largest agricultural event of the year, this show transforms the Cowichan Exhibition grounds into a vibrant learning adventure. Young Farmers Day is designed to help students discover where their food comes from through hands-on activities, engaging demonstrations, and real-life connections to farming in our community. Here’s what your students can look forward to: • Explore the science of farming through interactive stations hosted by the Vancouver Island Regional 4-H Council. • Meet friendly goats and learn about animal care with the Vancouver Island Goat Association. • Travel back in time while checking out vintage farm equipment presented by the Duncan and District Vintage Machinery Society. • Take part in weaving demonstrations by the Tzouhalem Spinners & Weavers Guild. • Check out the Poultry in Motion Mini Barn - Students get a firsthand look at how chicken is raised and highlights the dedicated local farmers who produce our food. • See the Raptors - Learn about the captivating world of birds of prey at the Raptors demonstration. Come explore, learn, and celebrate the rich agricultural traditions that shape our Island community! Admission is FREE—we hope to see you there! Please RSVP by email or phone with your school name, teacher name, and number of students . Our email address is [email protected] and our phone number is 250-748-0822. We look forward to seeing all the young farmers here that day! |
